Revolutions are traditionally associated with inner cities and shipyards. The countryside revolutionaries died out with the Tolpuddle Martyrs and the Rebbecca Riots. They all moved to work in the city. It is true, however, that these self same revolutionaries have occasionally had to resort to the mountains to hide from authority. I have visions of troops driving through the narrow walled lanes and high passes whilst being watched from behind sheep pens further up the hillside.

Well, high in the hills above Wennington and Wray, Lancashire the spirit of revolution lives and is thriving. It is the home of @cyberdoyle, farmer’s wife, pigeon fancier, tireless social revolutionary, and one of the leaders of the modern day digital revolution.

Cyberdoyle, who I am proud to call a friend, has produced a telling video on use of rural broadband technology in the UK. She is fortunate. As a revolutionary she has resorted to her own resources and installed the first rural fibre run in the UK. Now she is shortlisted for an award in the Sheffield Doc/Fest for Digital Revolutions having entered her video in the Amateur section.
