Social Revolution Country Style @cyberdoyle

star of the Cyberdoyle Sheffield Fest/Doc video competition entryRevolutions are traditionally associated with inner cities and shipyards. The countryside revolutionaries died out with the Tolpuddle Martyrs and the Rebbecca Riots. They all moved to work in the city. It is true, however, that these self same revolutionaries have occasionally had to resort to the mountains to hide from authority. I have visions of troops driving through the narrow walled lanes and high passes whilst being watched from behind sheep pens further up the hillside.

Well, high in the hills above Wennington and Wray, Lancashire the spirit of revolution lives and is thriving. It is the home of @cyberdoyle, farmer’s wife, pigeon fancier, tireless social revolutionary, and one of the leaders of the modern day digital revolution.

Cyberdoyle, who I am proud to call a friend, has produced a telling video on use of rural broadband technology in the UK. She is fortunate. As a revolutionary she has resorted to her own resources and installed the first rural fibre run in the UK. Now she is shortlisted for an award in the Sheffield Doc/Fest for Digital Revolutions having entered her video in the Amateur section. Check it out. Anything you can do to support her entry would be great. And following her on twitter would be a good start. Follow cyberdoyle on Twitter

P.S. Make sure you do watch the vid – I’ve never seen happier looking cows.

I don’t actually know her like but just the fact she wanna spend the prize money on her people man would mark her as an “OK bird” to me.

Oh and what’s wiv the pro film maker dude trying to cash in on her space in the amatour category? Go find your own space, man n play there. Leave our lovely cyberdudette alone. Dunno about bean a pigeon fancier but I tink she like Red Bull – our mum gonna wins, yo!

Thanks Liam. And thanks to the other commenter. I don’t actually drink, only tea, but I do like red bulls. We had a gorgeous one on the farm once but all his calves were black.

I just hope the judges like cows. And singing dogs. Its all out of our hands now. What will be, will be. The other films are all very good and I don’t envy the judges one little bit. Its been a great experience and I think all the videos have done a lot of good for raising awareness of the benefits of digital technology. It has also done me good, cos I have finally got round to doing a facebook page with the help of that @johnpopham who told me which buttons to press 😉
Skype have also put three of the videos on their facebook page including mine, so I only got caught up in time. I think I spend too much time on twitter 😀
thanks all for your support
chris
