Gah this is sooo frustrating. The person didn’t say who it was sending the text and I don’t have the number in my address book. What am I going to do now? It will be so embarrassing if I ring and get their name wrong – I don’t like to just say “hi” do you? It gives a far better impression if you can call them by name. I realise that they didn’t use my name either but that’s understandable in a text message isn’t it? Using my full name, Huw Trefor Davies would take up far too much space though they could have just said Tref and I would have been fine with that. Maybe they didn’t think of that.
Perhaps their name is a really long one that would take up most of the message – like Mr Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. It’s plausible, isn’t it? People do get called after place names, maybe they were born there or summat!
I don’t think I’ll bother.

There are a couple of website like whocallsme.com that have details of other people getting calls…

Yes. I’m a bit of a tart really because these posts attract a lot of traffic from people searching to see who the number belongs to 🙂
Gosh! You are a tart, aren’t you. Having received one of these SMS messages (different phone numbers but the same text) I searched “we have tried to contact you. It is important we speak to you today.” And you came up tops.
If only I knew how to write code for webpages, I might be able to write that phrase into it and increase traffic on my blog (latest number of views, 50 in the past year).
I don’t do anything special John. It’s just that I noticed after writing a similar post once that it got a lot of visits. I just populate the SEO fields in the wordpress template. I use a plug in.
I’ve just taken a look to see and this one got 61 visits yesterday and 19 so far today. I won’t be retiring on it quite yet – particularly as I don’t carry ads anyway:)
There has to be a way of getting rid of the parasites that send these texts.
I’m not sure if we’ll ever rid ourselves of the parasites but we can certainly make their lives more difficult. Next time someone from an injury claims company or PPI refund company asks for my details, I shall quote one of these phone numbers.
Let the spammers spam each other!
That is a very good idea:)
